Tyranid Tervigon by DaOldHorse Tyranid Tervigon by DaOldHorse
Games Workshop´s Tyranid Tervigon model for Warhammer 40k tabletop wargame.

This is the biggest model I paited. Mostly I paited with one tone of color few hours a day. The forelegs are magnetized and can be swapped for claws. I glued some adrenal glands and toxin sacs from other tyranid sprues to the body.

Painted with acrylic colors and varnished. Base decorated with hematite sand, vermiculite crystals and Herkule glue (I shoul use another gle, this one has a milky tone when applied in thicker layer) and also Tyranid Rippers (really like those models, but almost all units in the game more usefull).

Thank you. When I was deciding for my 40K army, firstly I didn´t like tyranids much because of the white skin (well some like the pait scheme some not) on the pictures in rulebook. Then I decidet to made up my own paint scheme for the skin, inspired a bit by the predator from film. Chitin plates I made simmilar to hive flet Behemoth.
And I am not a professinal, I paint miniature just for 4 years and trying to do my best.

Bloody Hell..........................you sir, are a god. Your miniatures are absolutely incredible. You must be a commission painter? Everything you paint is outrageously good. Wow, wow & wow once more

I am glad you like my miniatures so much. But there are many far better painters than me. When I looked at some miniature in Cool mini or not, I just stared with open mouth. I paint miniatures just for 4 years. For commission I painted just one tyranid venomtrope 2 years ago.

I've been painting for two years & hope to be at your standard in the next two years! Agreed that Cool Mini or Not have outstanding pieces, but perfection is subjective!!!

That is excellent work!

I love the edge highlighting along the chitin. And I'm frankly stunned be the level of detail you picked out on the fangs and eyes. :wow:

Thanksand yes, the downside of my painting is that it tooks a lot of time. I do not know the exact time of painting this one, but it was 3-4 weeks. A 28-32mm human model I paint 5-7 hours.

Lester from Awesome Paintjob did almost the exact same paintjob on a Carnifex I think and when it came to do the chitin he started doing it the way you did, however he changed to stippling on the edges and then dry-brushing, and followed it up with a glaze to even it out. I do prefer the way it looks here, even if it took a lot more time.

Another thing is certain details I almost never see done and that was the outlines of the termigaunts where you added their colors pushing through the skin sack. I loved that you took the time to show that.

The termagants pushinh through the sacs on the model were a big surprise for me, when I opened the box, because I did not notice them on the GW webside pictures. Therefore I really enjoyed paiting them.

Part of it is how thick you want the skin sack to look, but it looks really cool when its thin and the colors show through.
